About this event
RiceFest celebrates Gullah Geechee culture and the history of Coastal Georgia in Riceboro, where nearly 5,000 people gather around City Hall for the food, music, art and history of the Gullah/Geechee people, whose ancestors once worked on rice plantations in Liberty County. The weekend opens with a Homecoming Dinner & Dance for adults at the Riceboro Youth Center, and the Saturday festival day brings a parade, more than 60 local vendors, the Geechee Gullah Shouters, a headline set by 803Fresh and a competitive rice cook-off. Sunday's GospelFest features Grammy winner Dr. Dorinda Clark Cole, and a youth essay contest is part of the tradition.
