About this event
The Riverton Fair is put on by the Union Agricultural Society of Barkhamsted, Colebrook and Hartland in historic Riverton, Connecticut, with rides, music, food, and animals. Exhibit halls cover oxen and steers, junior dairy cattle, rabbits, poultry, vegetables, fruit, bread and pastry, canned goods, needlework, floral work, and arts and crafts. Contests include apple pie, lemon bliss cake, a junior baking contest, pie eating, a women's skillet throw, a men's hay bale toss, woodchopping, sawing, axe throwing, and a garden tractor pull.
Our take: Make time for the contests: the women's skillet throw, the men's hay bale toss, and the woodchopping.
