About this event
Colorado Ballet's The Nutcracker has been a Denver holiday tradition for more than 65 years, staged at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with Tchaikovsky's score played live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. Based on E.T.A. Hoffmann's story, it follows Clara Stahlbaum and her Nutcracker Prince from Herr Drosselmeyer's mysterious gift into the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy, past mischievous mice, twirling snowflakes and dances from many lands. The show runs about two and a quarter hours with two intermissions and is recommended for ages 5 and up, with audio-described and sensory-friendly performances on the schedule.
Our take: If anyone in your group needs a relaxed setting, book the sensory-friendly matinee on opening weekend.
