About this event

The Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade fills the marina's main channel with boats decorated in holiday lights around a yearly theme, with skippers and crews in costume dancing, singing and playing live music as they circle the harbor. The night opens with activities at Burton Chace Park and a light show before the boats set off. The tradition dates to 1963, when about 20 of the marina's roughly 100 boats joined the first parade, organized by the Pioneer Skippers boat owners when there was only one restaurant on Fiji Way.

Our take: Leave early or park at Marina Towers on Admiralty Way, since spaces on Mindanao Way near Burton Chace Park will be very limited.

Parking

Event parking is $8 in the public lots closest to Burton Chace Park (pay-and-display; Visa, Mastercard or $1/$5 bills, no change) and $5–$15 in other county lots; Lot 77 at 13560 Mindanao Way and Marina Towers at 4640 Admiralty Way are options.
