Red Wolf Renaissance Fair

The Red Wolf Renaissance Fair is a community-driven event at Craighead Forest Park in Jonesboro, with armored combat, performances, artisan vendors and family-friendly fun. It supports conservation of the critically endangered American red wolf, in recognition of a proposed $5 million research and conservation center at the park that would house 12 or more red wolves. The species was once native to the entire Southeastern United States, and organizers note the wild population now survives only along the North Carolina coast, where the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates just 28 to 31 remain.
