About this event

Madison County's farmers market traces its roots to the early 1800s, when trading began in the basement of the county courthouse in Huntsville. It moved many times before the present market building on Cook Avenue opened in 1984. Commercial produce dealers use the west end of the building, while the middle is set aside for farmers selling their own fruit and vegetables. Corn, okra, tomatoes and squash are the biggest crops, along with greens, beans, field peas and fresh fruit.

Our take: Head to the farmers' stalls in the middle of the building for fresh greens, beans and field peas.
