About this event
At the Utah Firefighter Chili Cookoff, more than 20 teams of first responders face off at the pavilion at America First Field in Sandy, home of RSL soccer, for Best Chili and Best Booth. Every team is cooking for the same cause: University of Utah Health's Burn Camp programs, five camps for different age groups that help burn survivors heal and adjust after their injuries, and all chili and beer ticket sales go to them. Kids get games and crafts, fire apparatus to explore and a helicopter landing by U of U AirMed, and the Emerald Society Pipes and Drums band opens the day.
Our take: Arrive at the start to hear the pipes and drums kick things off, then work your way through the booths while every pot is still full.
Good to know
Admission is free; chili and beer tickets are sold at the event.
