About this event
The International Museum of Art & Science in McAllen celebrates Día de los Muertos with a one-day festival and market where families honor loved ones through traditional performances, local food and hands-on arts and crafts. The museum's community altars, built around a theme that honors community leaders, are on view in the Welcome Pavilion, and the market, festival, exhibits and altars all come with general admission. A favorite tradition is sugar skull decorating, where you craft your own skull to take home.
Our take: Buy your sugar skull in advance and decorate it early in the day, then tour the altars in the Welcome Pavilion before the afternoon crowd.
