About this event
West Ashley Farmers Market is the neighborhood sibling of Charleston's Marion Square market, produced by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs with the Parks Department and guidance from the Special Events Committee. It gathers at Ackerman Park, 55 Sycamore Avenue, to widen access to local fresh food and give West Ashley a civic meeting place tied to the city's 2014 West Ashley Strategic Plan. Stalls feature seasonal produce and sweet and savory foods from vendors who source nearby farms, plus live entertainment, rotating food trucks, and family activities. The park also has a fenced dog park and skate park near Sycamore Avenue and St. Andrews Boulevard.
Our take: Plan on a food truck and the live set, not a quick produce dash; this one is built as an afternoon neighborhood gathering.
