About this event
The Phoenixville Firebird Festival celebrates the borough's namesake by burning a 20-foot wooden Phoenix that takes community volunteers three months to build, with skilled carpenters working alongside people just learning to use a hammer. The festival village in Reservoir Park on Franklin Avenue fills the afternoon with drummers, dancers, fire breathers, live music and craft and food vendors before the evening burn. The festival began in 2004, when the town's Arts and Entertainment committee set out to cultivate the arts in Phoenixville.
Our take: Find a spot near the Dayton Street entrance, by the cemetery, where the bird is built and burned.
Good to know
Festival Village opens 3pm; the bird burns at 6:30pm
