About this event

Halloween Nights at Eastern State Penitentiary sets five haunted houses inside a real, abandoned 10-acre prison in Philadelphia, America's first penitentiary, with historic tours, themed bars, live performances, and more than 200 performers a night. A glow necklace at the entrance opts you into being grabbed or split from your group; without it, performers are not supposed to touch you. An average visit runs about 90 minutes, and you can bypass all five houses for the bars, tours, and exhibits. After Dark VIP adds a 40-minute flashlight tour and The Speakeasy at Al Capone's Cell.

Our take: Arrive at the parking lot 30 to 40 minutes before your entry window, and grab a glow necklace only if you want performers to touch you.

Parking

If driving, arrive at the parking lot 30 to 40 minutes before the ticket entry time. Sandals, flip-flops, open-toed shoes, and high heels are not permitted. Full-face theatrical masks and weapon-like props are prohibited.

Good to know

Open select nights from October 2 through November 7. General admission uses half-hour entry windows. Closing times vary by demand.
