About this event

The Fairmount Farmers Market opened in 2004 with help from Bookhaven, a used bookstore, and sits right across from the historic Eastern State Penitentiary. It is part of The Food Trust's network and now runs year-round on a weekday afternoon, in the middle of Fairmount's busy retail corridor. Vendors rotate through with fruit and vegetables, poultry and eggs, baked goods, honey, cheese, cut flowers, coffee, wine and spirits.

Our take: Tour Eastern State Penitentiary across the street, then cross over to the market for an after-work grocery run.

Good to know

Thursdays, 3–7 p.m. (2–5 p.m. November–March). SEPTA routes 7, 32, 33 and 48 and PHLASH.
