About this event

Established in 1860 to help feed the 300,000 Union soldiers stationed at nearby Camp Curtin, Harrisburg's Broad Street Market bills itself as America's oldest continuously operating market house. Its Stone Building was completed in 1863, and the complex, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, sits in Midtown three blocks north of the Pennsylvania Capitol. Dozens of vendors sell locally grown organic produce, meats, baked goods, freshly prepared meals and hometown brews. After a 2023 electrical fire nearly destroyed the Brick Building, many displaced vendors moved into a temporary tent beside it while the building is restored.

Our take: Aim for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when select vendors are open every market day; many stay later.
