About this event
The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival has been a tradition since 1897 and is one of the oldest winter carnivals in the United States. For ten days the village fills its calendar with sporting events, a royal court, fireworks displays and the Gala and Kiddie Parades. The centerpiece is the Ice Palace at the state boat launch, which opens with a lighting and fireworks display. The 2027 carnival theme is Wizards and Dragons.
Our take: Look over the carnival's day-by-day calendar before you pick dates, since the parades, the fireworks and the sporting events each fall on specific days of the ten-day run.
