Mesilla Valley Maze

Mesilla Valley Maze in Las Cruces, at 3855 W Picacho Ave, opens a corn maze and hayrides with a long list of included play spots. Sand diggers, the Mystic Walk, hamster wheels, a corn barn, wormholes, a bubble barn, Mr. Pumpkin Head, and hobbit holes sit alongside giant slides, a flower field, and Pumpkin Junction. Gem mining, face painting, duck racing, and rope making are ticketed separately in the park. Concessions run from corn dogs, chili dogs, and Frito pie to tamales, roasted corn, and Blue Bell ice cream, with more snacks at Katie's Country Store. Outside food is allowed. Covered pavilions are first come, first served, so a picnic plan helps if you want a shaded table.

Our take: Bring outside food if you want to skip the concession line, and buy activity tickets in the park only for gem mining or duck racing.
