About this event
The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh is billed as an experience unique to the state, with entertainment, rides and games, thousands of animals, competitions, vendors, and deep-fried food. Livestock classes, both youth and open, have been part of the fair since 1853, encouraging the breeding and marketing of farm animals. The grounds at 4285 Trinity Road also hold the James B. Hunt Horse Complex. A 100-site campground beside I-40 stays open most of the year but closes for the month of October while the fair is on. The fair is run by the N.C. State Fair Division of the state agriculture department.
Our take: Do not count on the fairgrounds campground for an overnight stay, because it closes for the whole month of October.
