About this event

Missoula Farmers' Market is Missoula's original farmers' market, a gathering of food and friends since 1972. It was established as a Montana non-profit in 1972 by City Ordinance 1485, with Mavis McKelvey and Chinwon Reinhardt instrumental in the founding. It still operates downtown at the north end of Higgins, by the red XXXXs and next to the railroad tracks. Spring brings veggie starts and greens; summer brings tomatoes, huckleberries, cherries, peaches, melons, and corn; fall brings squash, pumpkins, apples, and garlic. Meat, eggs, and mushrooms run all season, with coffee, baked treats, jams, honey, and prepared food from Missoula and farther afield. Live music is part of the stroll.

Our take: Match the month to the bounty—greens in spring, huckleberries and peaches in summer, squash and garlic in fall—and look for the red XXXXs at the north end of Higgins.
