About this event
The Kalispell Farmers Market dates to early 1974, when the Organic Farming and Gardening Club petitioned the city council for a downtown parking lot for a weekly market. Local banks donated start-up money and parking spaces, and the market moved several times as it grew, from the Conrad Bank lot to the Kalispell Center Mall. It now sets up on Saturdays at Flathead Valley Community College on Grandview Drive. Its roots go back further still, to a Saturday Women's Market of the 1930s and 1940s, where farm women sold breads, pies, jams, eggs and handwork.
Our take: On closing day, follow the season's final outdoor market with the indoor Harvest Holiday Market at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.
