Billings HarvestFest

HarvestFest is a fall street festival in the center of downtown Billings, on streets below Skypoint, after the Yellowstone Valley Farmers' Market ends for the season. Arts and crafts, mums, pumpkins, jams, pies, face painting, and balloon twisting share the blocks with the last of the local produce. Food trucks serve roasted nuts, steak sandwiches, and kettle corn, and live entertainment plays under Skypoint. Montana Brewing Company's beer garden hosts a stein-hoisting contest: hold a water-filled stein at shoulder level the longest. Contestants must be over 21 and meet hosts on N. Broadway before it starts. Wise Wonders Science & Discovery Museum runs a children's area with crafts.

Our take: If the stein contest is the draw, be on N. Broadway in the beer garden before noon; otherwise the Skypoint stage and the kettle corn trucks are the easier wander.
