About this event
Festival de las Calaveras is a Twin Cities Día de los Muertos celebration centered on The Hook & Ladder Theater in Minneapolis, honoring memory and culture for all ages. The free block party at Minnehaha Avenue and Lake Street brings Rudos Lucha Libre, community ofrendas by artist Graciela DeAnda and Opossum Colectivo, Danza Mexica Yolotl, a Cine Latino film showcase, an aerial skeleton performance by Fly Freak Studio, food trucks, and arts and crafts vendors. Ticketed indoor programs feature bands including Son Rompe Pera, Tropa Magica, Flor Amargo and Making Movies, plus a Rising Voices spotlight on local acts.
Our take: Be at Minnehaha and Lake around 6:30 p.m., when the Alebrije and Katrina bike procession arrives from Midtown Global Market.
Parking
Block party is free; indoor programs $10/$15 in advance, $10/$20 on event day.
