About this event
Christmas Prelude is Kennebunkport's 11-day holiday festival. Signature pieces include tree lightings in Dock Square, Santa arriving by lobster boat at the Nonantum Resort, the Cape Porpoise lobster-trap tree, a hat parade led by the Patriot Fife and Drum Duo, candlelight caroling at the Franciscan Monastery, a street festival, and fireworks over the cove. A RideMaine shuttle on Ocean Avenue links a second stretch of the festival, where Coveside Market offers s'mores, lobster rolls, and chowder.
Our take: Watch Santa from the river side of the Mathew Lanigan Bridge, then stay for the cove fireworks rather than leaving after the tree lighting.
Parking
No parking on the monastery property for candlelight caroling. RideMaine shuttle on Ocean Avenue near The Boathouse for the upper festival.
