About this event

The Louisiana Pecan Festival in Colfax celebrates a crop grown by many area farmers and native to the Red River Delta. The festival grew out of Grant Parish's centennial in 1969, and organizers say it now draws 60,000 to 75,000 visitors over three days. The weekend opens with a free Children's Day of games, a petting zoo, fun jumps and rock walls, followed by arts and crafts booths, a cooking contest, carnival rides, live music, the Grand Parade, and a Saturday street dance followed by fireworks.

Our take: Stop by The Country Store for homemade pecan pies, pralines, cane syrup and bags of pecans.

Good to know

No four-wheelers, side-by-sides or other ATVs on the festival grounds. Handicapped parking available.
