About this event
The Iowa Rabbit Festival began in 1986 to promote a local rabbit processing plant and has grown into one of the largest events in the area, now held at the Burton Complex in Lake Charles and drawing more than 20,000 people over the weekend. Two indoor stages host nonstop live entertainment, with a carnival, helicopter rides, a petting zoo, craft and food vendors and the Rabbit Show. Proceeds go to Iowa civic, fraternal and school groups and to scholarships for Iowa High School seniors.
Our take: Go Saturday morning for the Rabbit Cook-Off, where spectators taste all kinds of rabbit dishes and vote for the People's Choice award.
Good to know
Thu 5–10pm (Family Night, free gate, no alcohol); Fri 5:30pm–midnight; Sat Rabbit Cook-Off 9am–2pm, entertainment 2–11pm.
