About this event
Arkalalah is Arkansas City's fall festival, started in 1928 when local businessmen decided the town needed something to lift its spirits. The name came from a contest: Mrs. J.W. Moore combined Ark, for the town, with alalah, which organizers say is an Indian word for good time. The festival runs Wednesday through Saturday with three parades, food vendors, a carnival, a marching band competition, an all-class reunion, Cowley College's Dodgeballalah and the Arkalalah Queen's coronation, plus a soap box derby and a 2-mile run.
