About this event
Night of the Luminaria and Living Windows is a winter-evening tradition in downtown Galena, hosted by the Galena Downtown Business Association. More than 5,000 candlelit luminaries line streets, sidewalks, and steps from Main Street to the hills overlooking Grant Park, while storefronts along Main Street come alive with holiday-themed animations and displays. The pairing is a stroll through historic downtown, mixing shopping with the glow.
Our take: Leave the car at Recreation Park and ride the Jo Daviess Transit shuttle so Main Street stays a walk.
Parking
No vehicle parking on Main Street after 1 p.m. on event day. Parking at Recreation Park, 1721 Field St, about 220 spaces. Jo Daviess Transit shuttles run between Recreation Park and Green Street Plaza.
Good to know
Grant Park and Recreation Park restrooms are closed for the winter. Public restrooms: Galena City Hall, 101 Green Street, and Old Market House State Historic Site, 121 North Commerce Street.
