About this event
Appleberry Orchard in Donnellson opens its fall farm fun at Appleberry Acres and Petting Farm, a play area beside the market, bakery, and pumpkin patch. The corn maze runs on weekends. Signature sights are the Pumpkin Chunker, which can send a pumpkin up to three-quarters of a mile, and pig races with names like Shaqueal O'Squeal, Boss Hog, and Cris P. Bacon. Kids can also hit the corn pool, gaga ball pit, and weekend wagon and tractor-train rides. The farm is at 2469 Highway 2. Come on a weekend if you want the maze, the races, and the chunker in one visit.
Our take: Go on a weekend if the pig races, wagon rides, and Pumpkin Chunker are the reason for the trip, since the maze is weekends only.
Good to know
August: Tuesday-Saturday 9 am-5 pm, Sunday 11 am-4 pm, closed Monday. September and October hours lengthen; October 26-31 runs 9 am-5 pm. Pig races Saturdays and Sundays from the second weekend in September through October.
