About this event

The Mountain Moonshine Festival and Car Show celebrates Dawson County's moonshining history and its claim as the birthplace of stock car racing, at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Main Street Park in Dawsonville. A moonshine run, a show of moonshine-hauling cars and race cars, a parade, induction ceremonies for the National Moonshiner's Hall of Fame and two days of live music fill the weekend, along with a car show with awards both days. The festival is the largest fundraiser for KARE for Kids, which buys clothes, school supplies, medical care and Christmas gifts for Dawson County children in need.

Our take: Come Saturday for the parade at 10 a.m., the Moonshiner's Hall of Fame induction at 11 and a closing concert by Don't Tell Danny.

Parking

Parking donation $10–$25 depending on the lot, with free shuttles. Lots include Dawson County High School (1665 Perimeter Rd.), Robinson Elementary (1150 Perimeter Rd.) and Dawson County Junior High (near Bowen Arts Center, 334 GA-9).
