About this event
The Golden Beverage Tasting & Chili Cook-Off is a beloved Golden tradition, now run by the Golden Welcome Center, a nonprofit right across the street from Parfet Park at Washington Avenue and 10th Street. Chili cooks share the park with tastings from more than 25 brands carried by Coors Distributing Company, from domestic and craft beers and imports to spirits and non-alcoholic choices, plus local exhibitors and entertainment. Every ticket holder gets a souvenir sampling glass, and proceeds support the Welcome Center's community programs and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Downtown parking is tight on Saturday afternoons, so organizers suggest the Clear Creek lot a block east or the Ore Cart community shuttle.
Our take: Eat lunch at a downtown Golden spot before the gates open, as organizers suggest, and line up a ride home if you plan to sample.
