About this event

MIKIZTLI: Día de los Muertos PHX Festival is Cultural Coalition's free, family-friendly Day of the Dead celebration at the Arizona Center in downtown Phoenix. The evening brings mariachi music, ballet folklórico, cultural performances, art vendors, food trucks, face painting, hands-on arts and crafts, and the festival's largest community altar, or ofrenda. Cultural Coalition, founded by artists and community activists, works to connect communities and generations to Chicano, Latiné and Indigenous traditions.

Our take: Come early for the traditional Danza Mexica ceremony and stay late for the procession led by Las Flacas, the 8-foot animated skeleton puppets, which kicks off a dance party with live music.

Parking

2-hour validations for the Arizona Center garage (SW corner of 5th St. & Fillmore); street meters; light rail stops at 3rd St/Washington and Van Buren/Central about a 7-minute walk.
