About this event
Downtown Fort Smith turns into a day of history, hands-on activities, arts, and shopping for the Fall Festival. More than 80 living-history reenactors at Fort Smith National Historic Site run infantry, cavalry, and cannon demonstrations and a Belle Starr trial reenactment. Open houses include the Fort Smith Museum of History, the Clayton House for Judge Clayton's birthday, Miss Laura's Brothel Museum, and a family day at the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum. Pendergraft Park holds a kids zone with Arkansas Dart Warz. Food trucks line 3rd Street between Garrison and Rogers, the farmers market adds a dog costume contest and pumpkin decorating, and trolley buses link the stops.
Our take: Park at a trolley stop and ride between museums, and be at the National Historic Site for the 10 a.m. Belle Starr trial reenactment.
Parking
Fort Smith Transit trolley buses stop at festival locations, 10 AM to 4 PM; streetcar rides run from the Fort Smith Trolley Museum.

Farmers market 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Belle Starr trial reenactment 10:00 AM at the National Historic Site, 301 Parker Ave.
