About this event

The Wednesday Dane County Farmers' Market is the more intimate sibling of the Saturday market, set on the 200 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., between the Madison Municipal Building and the City County Building. Stalls still carry fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, bakery items, cut flowers, plants, and specialty goods from DCFM members. Radical Coffee runs a mobile espresso bar at the Information Booth every Wednesday. The Taste It Tent offers a sample of an in-season fruit or vegetable so you can buy that produce from a local producer afterward. A food-scrap drop-off, run with Green Box Compost, takes residential food waste only, up to one gallon per person, at the Information Booth.

Our take: Stop at the Taste It Tent before you buy an unfamiliar fruit or vegetable, then pick up the same produce from a producer on the block.

Parking

Street parking, most of it metered, plus city-owned lots and garages; the market is two blocks off the Square. Bike parking is available. Madison BCycle has downtown stations.

Good to know

Pets are discouraged for food-safety reasons. Information Booth open until 1:00 pm. Taste It Tent samples run between 10 am and noon.
