About this event
Ranger Airfield has been welcoming aviators since 1911, and its Old School Fly-In & Airshow, which reached No. 18 in 2026, draws pilots who land their own planes and camp beside them. The airshows are short and sweet, usually under an hour with about four aerobatic acts, and the 2026 lineup favored vintage machines like a Bücker Jungmann, a Bücker Jungmeister, a Chipmunk and a 450 Stearman. Food centers on the 1928 hangar, where lunch means airfield hamburgers, snow cones and sausage on a stick. Eastland, about eight miles west, has the nearest hotels.
Our take: Arrive hungry on Saturday, when a hangar hamburger at lunch lines up neatly with the early-afternoon airshow.
Parking
RV space on the airfield is limited to event volunteers; pilots can camp with their aircraft (showers on site).
Good to know
Gate opens 9am. Short airshows Friday evening and Saturday early afternoon; the field closes to traffic during each show.
