About this event
The Preservation Society of Newport County decks out three mansions for the holidays: The Breakers, Marble House and Chateau-sur-Mer. Nearly 30 Christmas trees are decorated to match each room, including Mr. Vanderbilt's tree in The Breakers, trimmed with trains and top hats, and hundreds of poinsettias, garlands, wreaths and fresh flowers fill the houses. The showpiece is a 15-foot poinsettia tree built from 150 plants in the Great Hall of The Breakers.
Our take: Plan a weekend visit if you want to see all three houses, since Chateau-sur-Mer opens only on Saturdays and Sundays.
Good to know
Regular daytime admission tickets apply; The Breakers requires a timed ticket, and buying ahead is recommended.
