About this event
Old Time Christmas invites visitors to experience Christmas in the 1800s on candlelit guided tours of Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, decked out in holiday finery with lanterns and luminaries. Tours stop at a bonfire for stories, a Christmas putz in the Victorian parlor and a live Nativity with farm animals in the barnyard. In the cabin, guests see how a family celebrated in the early 19th century, the school marm leads carols in the schoolhouse, and the Belschnikel, an old Pennsylvania German folk character, waits at the farmhouse to judge who has been naughty or nice. A forest of decorated trees, complimentary refreshments and a holiday gift shop finish the visit.
Our take: Dress for an evening outdoors, since the candlelit tour moves between the barnyard, cabin, schoolhouse and farmhouse.
Good to know
Ticketed: advance admission $16 adults, $8 ages 3–12; $18 and $10 at the gate. A visit takes about an hour and a half.
