About this event
Put-in-Bay's Oktoberfest brings over 30 years of German tradition to DeRivera Park on South Bass Island, about three miles north of the Ohio mainland in Lake Erie. Put-in-Bay Chamber member restaurants serve German dishes such as brats, potato pancakes and apple dumplings, with beer from Put-in-Bay Brewery. The Phil Yan Polka Band plays through the weekend, traditional German dancers perform on Saturday, and there are souvenirs and raffles.
Our take: Take Miller Ferries, which offers free parking and a 20-minute crossing to the island.
Parking
The island is reached by ferry, boat or small aircraft; Miller Ferries offers free parking.
Good to know
Saturday 11 a.m.–7 p.m., Sunday noon–5 p.m. Admission $6 for one day or $9 for both.
