About this event

The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival celebrates the county's 19 covered bridges, built in five styles from Howe and Pratt truss to Town lattice, Burr arch and inverted Haupt truss, and linked by a scenic driving tour. The festival promotes the county and supports the upkeep of its bridges, which include the shortest and the longest covered bridges in the United States. Local groups host many of the bridges: the festival board runs vendors, food trucks, entertainment and kiddie train rides at Harpersfield, the East Plymouth Grange serves homemade cabbage rolls at Smolen Gulf, and a Boy Scout troop serves cobbler at Doyle Road.

Our take: Stop at the Graham Road Bridge, where the East Jefferson Grange sells picnic boxes of soup, pumpkin bread, an autumn dessert and hot cider or hot chocolate.
