Carrboro Farmers' Market

Carrboro Farmers' Market at 301 W Main Street builds the year around named market days, from a Wednesday market with Market Bunch kids activities to a Saturday main season that opens with a Mini Museum of market history in the gazebo and a 2026 t-shirt. Tomato Day is the biggest signature event: farmers grow more than 70 varieties, including Sun Gold, Cherokee Purple, Brandywine, Big Beef, and Black Krim, with sliced samples, guest chefs, and a raffle. Other gatherings include Strawberry Jamboree, June in Bloom, a Labor Day weekend cookout of local chicken, duck, pork, beef, lamb, and bison, a vendor costume contest whose ticket sales support Double Bucks, and Root Fest for winter roots and the sweet potato, North Carolina's state vegetable.

Our take: Plan around Tomato Day if you want the 70-plus varieties and the sliced samples.
