About this event

ASAP opened Asheville City Market in 2008 to give more farmers a place to sell, especially those who could not get into existing markets. It began on Charlotte Street, moved to North Market Street in 2017, spent the pandemic as ASAP Farmers Market on A-B Tech's campus, and returned downtown at the start of the 2022 season. The street between Woodfin and Walnut closes to traffic while the producer-only market is on. Farm vendors grow or raise what they sell; prepared food, seafood, and coffee lean local. The information booth in front of the Thomas Wolfe Center sells market tokens and, for EBT users, SNAP tokens plus a Farm Fresh Bucks match for fruit and vegetables. A tote bag is the practical carry.

Our take: Bring a reusable tote and start at the information booth in front of the Thomas Wolfe Center if you need tokens or the fruit-and-vegetable match.

Parking

Free customer parking at the HomeTrust Bank lot and the Family Justice Center lot across from the YMCA at 35 Woodfin Street. Handicapped parking available. Bus stop on N1 and N2 routes one block away on Broadway.

Good to know

No markets the weeks of Christmas and New Year's. Winter hours differ from the regular season.
