About this event
The Mississippi State Fair has a long run behind it: the 2026 edition was billed as the 167th, held on the state fairgrounds in Jackson. Its most famous tradition is the Biscuit Booth, where staff from the state agriculture department hand out warm, homemade buttermilk biscuits. Agriculture sits at the heart of the fair, with daily 4-H and FFA livestock shows, pig races and a petting zoo, while a carnival midway and headline concerts in the Mississippi Coliseum round it out.
Good to know
Pets are not allowed; leashed ADA service animals are. Bicycles, skateboards, scooters and roller skates are prohibited inside the gates (wagons for small children are fine). Guests under 18 need an adult 21 or older with them Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. and all day Friday and Saturday.
