About this event
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall, a portable replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., stands on the front lawn of Zachary High School for a long weekend of public viewing. The Wall bears the names of more than 58,000 U.S. service members who gave their lives or remain missing in action, giving families and visitors a chance to honor them without traveling to the nation's capital. It arrives under police escort, opens with a flag-raising ceremony and closes with a ceremony on Monday. Admission is free.
Our take: Come Friday morning to catch the opening flag raising and the Zachary Veterans Day Parade, which rolls from the high school to the Bank of Zachary.
