About this event
The World Championship Gumbo Cookoff is a family-oriented food festival in historic downtown New Iberia, held the second weekend in October at Bouligny Plaza, 102 W. Main St. The weekend brings a gumbo cookoff, a Roux Run, a youth gumbo cookoff, a Meanest Beans competition, children's activities, and live music all weekend. Midday Saturday is Cajun and Creole food. Midday Sunday is nothing but gumbo.
Our take: Go Sunday midday if you want the grounds focused on gumbo, and Saturday midday if you want broader Cajun and Creole plates.
