About this event
Shake Your Trail Feather celebrates the Bayou Teche National Paddle Trail with a whacky Paddle Parade that starts behind Poche's Meat Market and paddles 4.5 miles, about two hours, down the bayou to Parc des Ponts in Breaux Bridge. Bands on decorated barges accompany the paddlers, and people with access to the bank between Poche Bridge and Breaux Bridge can watch the parade go by. From noon the park has food trucks, drinks, merch, kids' activities and live music by Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band. Proceeds help The TECHE Project build docks and amenities along the trail.
Our take: No boat? Reserve a kayak with life vest and paddle from Wanderlust Rentals or Pack and Paddle, since registration doesn't include a rental.
Good to know
Registration is on Eventbrite and includes a festival pin, but not a kayak rental, lunch or the shuttle. Pre-paddle shuttle $5 cash, first bus leaves Parc des Ponts at 9 a.m. Party from noon, with live music until 2 p.m. Non-motorized watercraft only.
