About this event
Rougarou Fest in Houma, Louisiana, builds a weekend around the rougarou, with a Rougarou Queen, a costume contest, and a howling contest. The lineup runs from a parade, carnival rides, and giant puppets to Rougarou zombies, witches, and a fifolet, plus Ghouls on the Run and a rougarou trail. Families get kids' games, trick-or-treat, an outdoor movie, and pumpkin lighting with fireworks. A folklife village, arts and crafts booths, food and drinks, coastal organizations, a Cajun critter pardoning, and Rou-Ga-Con round out the weekend.
Our take: Stay through the pumpkin lighting with fireworks if the parade and costume contest are why you came.
