About this event
Festivals Acadiens et Créoles is a free celebration of Louisiana French culture in Lafayette's Girard Park and on the grounds of the adjacent Hilliard Art Museum, next to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Music runs all day Saturday and Sunday, the Bayou Food Fest sells food and drink, and the Louisiana Crafts Fair offers souvenirs. Through the Smithsonian's Festival of Festivals initiative, a stage called Scène '76 highlights the interplay between South Louisiana music and other Americana traditions.
Our take: Bring chairs or blankets but leave the cooler at home; buying drinks at the festival helps keep it free.
Parking
Parking is in the areas around Girard Park; use 500 Girard Park Ave. in GPS. Handicapped parking stalls are available.
Good to know
Free; no tickets or reservations needed. Leave pets at home unless they are registered service animals.
