About this event
Eville Shindig is a pre-1972 hot rod, kustom, and rockabilly weekend at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center in Evansville, put on by the Eville Do-Rz Gearhead club. The show covers cars, trucks, and motorcycles from 1972 and older, plus a vintage camping rally and the Jalopy Jaunt, 330 feet of dirt drags and grudge racing in the arena with a flag girl. Gathering of the Hearses parks vintage hearses together for a best-hearse trophy. Friday night brings the Monsters Ball costume party after a flame-throwing show, and the Miss Eville Shindig pin-up contest runs in the auditorium. Swap-meet rows favor vintage and car-related goods.
Our take: Bring a camper for the vintage camping rally, and do not miss the Jalopy Jaunt if the dirt drags are why you came.
Parking
Camper setup opens before the show, with early entry for prepaid campers. Gates generally 9 a.m. to dark; Gate 1 stays open until midnight Friday and Saturday.
Good to know
Award ceremony is 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Pin-up contest registration is Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
