About this event
The Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots Festival is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit grassroots gathering of national, regional, and local artists and folk organizations in downtown Urbana. It stacks more than 80 performances and participatory activities, including dances, instructional sessions, jams, song-circles, family activities, storytelling, and instrument-making. The focus is on evolving and unique folk forms that lower the wall between audience and performers, while also keeping local traditions and histories in play.
Our take: Build the day around a jam or song-circle if you want to play, not only watch, since participatory sessions are part of the lineup.
