About this event

The Pure Kona Green Market brings local farmers and crafters to the Amy B. H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in Captain Cook on Sundays. Locally owned by the Balucan Basque ʻohana, it carries on the dream of founder Leona Balucan Basque, who bought the market in 2015 and liked to say, "Rain or shine, the market goes on!" Live music from Hawaiʻi Island performers has always been an important part of the market. The 15-acre garden around it holds over 200 species of pre-Cookian plants and archaeological remains of the Kona Field System.

Our take: On most market Sundays a garden volunteer leads a free, drop-in tour of about an hour, meeting at noon at the visitor center.
