Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival

The Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival, run by the City of Kennesaw and Kennesaw Parks & Recreation, is a two-day celebration of barbecue, live music and family fun. Friday night opens with Kennesaw's Got Country, a showcase of local and regional country musicians. Saturday's concert at the United Bankshares Amphitheater at Depot Park features Tigirlily Gold followed by headliner Chayce Beckham. Dozens of vendors, exhibitors and barbecue teams fill the grounds, and a Kids Zone offers interactive activities, a petting zoo and a Kids Market where young entrepreneurs sell their own creations.

Our take: Saturday's BBQ Competition Tasting Experience, from noon to 3 p.m., lets ticket holders sample barbecue, an Anything Peach creation and a wing entry from each competing team.
