About this event

The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is a holiday tradition the boating community brought to San Diego Bay. Boats are decorated to a yearly theme. About 80 lavishly decorated boats make the procession, drawing more than 100,000 residents and visitors to the shores. The line also runs to the pier at Cesar Chavez Park before turning toward Coronado, giving spectators a second stretch of shoreline.

Our take: Claim a spot along the bay or at the Cesar Chavez Park pier well before the boats start moving, since the favored viewing points crowd up.

Good to know

The procession starts at 5:30 p.m. and follows the set parade route.
