About this event

Opelika celebrates Christmas like it's 1899 on the Victorian Front Porch Christmas Tour, when historic homes in the city's northside historic district become a colorful, nostalgic reminder of Christmas from a simpler era. The tour began in 1993 with just a few homes and has grown to some 60 homes on North 8th and 9th Streets, decorated with life-size Santas, angels, toys, carousel horses and Christmas-themed figures. It has been voted one of the Southeast's top-rated tourism events and featured in Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Living. The self-guided route begins at Heritage House on North 8th Street and 2nd Avenue and covers more than ten city blocks.

Our take: Go on Saturday night, when the streets close to cars so you can stroll, hear the carolers and chat with residents in Victorian costume.

Good to know

Free; a self-guided driving tour, with North 8th and 9th Streets closed to traffic on Saturday night for strolling.
